About the Counsellor
Devanshi Shah (B. Com, MSocSc (Counselling), CHt, CI) is a senior practising psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience in dealing with a wide range of cases, which have involved marital disharmony, parenting challenges, academic struggles, low self-esteem, stress, anxiety and depression. She has extensive experience counselling individuals, couples, adolescents and children belonging to various cultural backgrounds, financial circumstances and geographical locations. She specialises in using Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Affect Regulation Therapy, Reality Therapy and Choice Therapy.
Before establishing a private practice, she spent nearly three years counselling students between the age group of 11 – 19 years in Assumption English School and Boys' Town, Singapore, for issues related to academic underperformance, stress, inter-personal relationships, teenage and adolescent hang-ups, crisis management, addictions and even a case which involved attempted suicide. She also has two years of teaching experience and has tutored and mentored children with special needs.
In addition to holding a Masters in Social Science (Counselling) from the University of South Australia, she is a Certified Hypnotherapist trained in 5-PATH® Hypnotherapy and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®, and is Certified for Basic Intensive Training by The William Glasser Institute in Reality Therapy, Choice Theory and Lead Management. She has been a Registered Associate Member of Singapore Association of Counselling since 2010.
